Giorgio Morandi was born in Bologna in 1890. This project is a humble look back on his work that is arranged in a mapping of lights that come together by generating matter. A story of human space and physical map that runs through the expression of the performers and their light.
The crowd that will live this experience is composed of citizens, dancers and emotional amateurs, aged between 11 and 80 years old, who in many cases accompanied and participated in previous productions, thus constituting an unprecedented and innovative community of gesture.
An incessant movement of the body to deposit traces of rubble on the ground: still lifes as archaeological signs of gesture. A voyage into the proliferation of the gesture, into the light and the shadow of the figure, into flaw and into lightness, where the articulation is modulated through an atlas of drapery and blurs. Closeness, between proximity and touch becomes the primary element in creating a score of stops; still lifes that suspend the meaning of gesture toward questions that man puts to time and duration.
The project Home, realized in Carpi immediately after the earthquake of 2012, represents the beginning of Virgilio Sieni’s relationship with the territories of Emilia: for the first time, along with some groups of citizens, young people, families and the elderly, Sieni meets the Chorale Savani directed by Giampaolo Violi. Since then they have had continuous productive experiences that have generated a workshop on the gesture as the driving force of each production.
Experiences and productions with the gesture community of Carpi/Modena/Bologna:

Agorà Marseille (2013) with the Corale Savani and various musicians such as G. Comuniello, (Marseille, European Capital of Culture 2013);
